The essentials at a glance
Is ZulaGo a vehicle registration authority?
No. ZulaGo is a private KBA-certified registration software provider operated by Technopolis GmbH. Our software is directly connected to the Federal Motor Transport Authority’s large-customer interface (GKS). Your responsible registration authority continues to make the registration decision.
How does online registration with ZulaGo work?
You select the procedure, enter the required details and upload your documents. After payment, identification and digital signing, ZulaGo checks your information. Our KBA-certified software then transmits the application directly through the Federal Motor Transport Authority’s large-customer interface (GKS) to the responsible registration authority. In the standard process, your data is not entered again manually. Our team only assists personally if there is a query or an exceptional case. You can view the processing status online at any time.
How long does registration take?
In the ideal case, your vehicle can be registered in 10 minutes. This requires complete documents and fully automated processing by the responsible registration authority. If an additional review is needed, it will take longer. You can view the current status in the protected status area.
Can my registration really be approved within a few seconds?
Yes. If your registration authority processes applications fully automatically and all your details are complete and correct, a decision can be made within a few seconds – even outside office hours. If a member of staff needs to review anything, processing will take longer.
How much does online registration cost?
The total price depends on the selected procedure and optional services such as number plates or delivery. The service fee, official fees and options are itemised before payment. Current starting prices are shown on the Services & Prices page.
Which documents do I need?
This depends on your procedure. You will typically need an identity document, registration certificate Part I (ZB I), registration certificate Part II (ZB II) and an eVB number. Some procedures also require the uncovered security codes. The application shows you exactly what you need.
When do I need the security codes from the number plates?
Only when existing sealed number plates must be invalidated: for deregistration and when a currently registered vehicle is transferred with a change of registration number. These codes are not required for a first registration, re-registration of a vehicle that is already deregistered, or a transfer in which the current registration number is retained. The application displays the fields only when they are required for your case.
How do I uncover the number-plate security codes correctly?
Do not uncover the codes until immediately before submitting the application, because this invalidates the existing number plates. Depending on the seal, carefully rub away the coat of arms or carefully score only the top film at the edge and peel it off. The code then appears on the back or under a remaining layer. You need exactly 3 characters next to the square DataMatrix code – not the 8-character production number. Copy uppercase and lowercase letters exactly. For cars, the front and rear codes are entered separately; vehicles with one plate only need the rear code.
Why do I need an eVB and a SEPA mandate?
Your motor insurer gives you the seven-character eVB number as proof of insurance. Procedures that require vehicle registration also generally require a SEPA mandate for German vehicle tax. The application shows what is required for your procedure.
How does payment work?
After you submit the application, we open the secure payment page. As soon as payment is confirmed, your order continues automatically.
Can I use ZulaGo throughout Germany?
ZulaGo is generally designed for digital vehicle registration procedures in Germany. Whether a procedure can be completed entirely online depends on factors including the application type, vehicle documents and the responsible authority. The application checks the requirements step by step.
Can I use my preferred registration number?
Yes, provided the number is available and reserved with your responsible registration authority. Enter the reservation details in the application. You can also order the matching number plates if required.
Can I order number plates at the same time?
Yes. You can order number plates with standard delivery included. We manufacture and dispatch them according to your selection.
Is ZulaGo available for companies and dealerships?
Yes. Individual company orders can be entered through the public application. Dealerships, fleets and other business customers can also use the ZulaGo business portal with its own order management.
What happens if documents are missing?
We will let you know if documents are missing or information is unclear. Processing continues once everything is complete.
What happens if my order cannot be submitted or is rejected?
We explain the reason and the available next steps. Whether costs can be refunded depends on which services have already been provided and which official or external fees have already been incurred. We review each case transparently.
Are export or temporary registrations available?
Export and temporary registrations are not currently available online. They will only be offered once the respective process has been fully approved.
How will I receive my documents?
Digital records are provided in the protected status area. Physical documents and number plates are sent by post where the procedure requires this.
Can I make changes later?
Please contact us as early as possible. Whether changes are possible depends on the current processing status.
